We are excited that fund-raising has been successful and aim to bring the funding level to the top of the thermometer, as we continue the quest for our new public library. You can help by hosting a fund raiser with your own circle of friends! One idea is to host a Tea Talk, a time to meet with friends or relatives and talk about the merits of the new library, to help them understand its importance, and to encourage their support. Kelly has created a short, descriptive packet on how to host a fund-raising event, complete with recipes for tea sandwiches and ideas for meaningful activities. Click on this TeaTalk link to download the pdf packet to give you some ideas.

Summer leads into fall, and things are very busy on the new library project! Here’s an overview of items that are progressing: Have you seen our foundation?!? Our great construction crew is busily working away on the site. The foundation walls are in and scaffolding was spotted on the site last week. Public Art Acquisition: The first round (of an envisioned four rounds) of public art acquisition has been going on. Nearly 25 artists submitted proposals, and announcement of the first round of acquisitions is anticipated this week. Stay tuned! Capital Campaign: The campaign cabinet has fired up their efforts again with the passing of summer. Amazingly, we are already at $571,204 of community contributions, and going strong! 100% Design Documents: The architects have completed 100% design documents for the library. These go for review by the Building Committee in two weeks. Once they’ve been forwarded to the City Council, we can expect the final construction contract to be let. Amazing progress all the way around! Thanks to all the team members for keeping it a positive, engaging, imaginative community project!
